What is Management?

Field is the combination of voter contact (canvassing, phones, SMS and events) and capacity building. (recruiting volunteers, building coalitions, and giving them the tools they need to take action).

I help left-leaning campaigns and causes build field plans and fix problems. For long-term clients, I offer three levels of ongoing support (coaching, consulting, and management).

Field consulting is largely a "done for you" service where consultants plan and manage paid canvass or phone programs. Most field consultants charge a commission for every canvass or call.

That often leads consultants to prioritize these two tactics and focus less on building the integrated voter contact that has the most impact.

Voter contact programs that are targeted, integrated, and well-managed can campaigns amplify messages and move voters. Research shows that the direct voter contact that happens during calls, canvassing, and events is an effective way to persuade voters.
